About the presenters:

Dr. Andrew Ridley

Andrew Ridley is the Managing Director of Geotechnical Observations Ltd (GeO), an integrator of geotechnical instrumentation and UK distributor of ShapeArray. He is a civil engineer with more than 35 years’ experience, has a Masters in Soil Mechanics and a PhD, both from Imperial College London. He has advised on instrumentation and monitoring for Heathrow Airport Terminal 2B, Crossrail, the Northern Line Extension and Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station. He retains strong academic and research interests and is the current Chair of ISSMGE TC220 on Field Measurements in Geomechanics.

Chris Gairns, M.Sc.E, P.Eng

Chris Gairns is the Director of Sales at Measurand Inc. As a professional engineer, he has collaborated with hundreds of engineers to create automated real-time monitoring solutions on all scales of projects. His background in geomatics engineering includes project coordination, research and development, and instrumentation. He believes robust monitoring plans are essential to the safety of the public and the success of any engineering project.
