Monir Precision Monitoring finds 1 mm correlation between SAAF and manual inclinometers

In a case study written by Monir Precision Monitoring, the author found “that the data from the SAAF and manual inclinometer readings were consistent within 1 mm, which matches the repeatability typically seen in this type of installation.”

The study compared data produced by SAAF ShapeArray and a manual inclinometer during a condominium construction project near the shore of Lake Ontario. An inclinometer casing and SAAF casing were installed on a steel pile forming part of a caisson wall shoring the excavation. The inclinometer casing was read manually. An SAAF was installed in the other casing and its data were logged automatically.

Monir frequently monitors shoring walls manually during construction projects. This requires sending personnel to the project site for each collection of data. The comparison with SAAF is part of a qualification process that could lead to more automated monitoring using Measurand’s ShapeArray technology in the Greater Toronto Area. Automated Measurand ShapeArrays are routinely used in major urban construction projects around the world.
