ShapeArray™ Field Power Unit

The ShapeArray™ Field Power Unit (FPU) is a portable, rugged, all-in-one power and communication device designed specifically for manual data collection in the field.

The ShapeArray™ Field Power Unit (FPU) is a portable, rugged, power and communication (interface) device designed for manual data collection in the field. Everything needed for the field is enclosed within a lightweight, water-resistant case. The FPU contains a rechargeable 12V 6 Ah battery, 5-pin and 4-pin communication ports, and Bluetooth for wireless data transmission. An auxiliary 4-pin terminal block can be used to power other equipment such as a radio modem or voltmeter.

The FPU is designed to meet ShapeArray’s unique power requirements. ShapeArrays often contain hundreds of sensors. A high-quality DC to DC converter that boosts and regulates voltage to a constant 13.5V. The output voltage can be boosted up to 16.5V for long ShapeArrays and cables. To recharge the battery, plug the unit into a standard power outlet.

The FPU connects to any ShapeArray model via USB cable or wirelessly via Bluetooth up to 100 m. A USB port driver is required to operate the FPU and is included in the downloadable SAARecorder application via SAASuite.
