SAAUSB

The SAAUSB adapter is an interface device that is used to connect any ShapeArray to a PC running SAASuite via USB port.

The SAAUSB adapter is an interface device used to connect any ShapeArray to a PC via USB port. Designed specifically for short-term indoor use, the SAAUSB adapter is intended for testing and calibration applications. Long-term outdoor applications require either SAA232 or SAA232-5 interface units. A USB port driver required to operate the SAAUSB is included in the SAARecorder application.

Similar to the SAA232 and SAA232-5, in addition to providing communications between ShapeArrays and PCs, the SAAUSB regulates ShapeArray power consumption by providing power to the ShapeArray only when the software requests data. Depending on the length of the ShapeArray cable and ShapeArray itself, a higher drive voltage can be selected by the software if required.

The SAAUSB must be grounded to minimize the risk of damage by voltage transients associated with power surges and lightning induced transients. Earth grounding is required to form a complete circuit for voltage clamping devices internal to the SAAUSB.
