SAA Communication Cable

ShapeArray cable is designed and manufactured specifically for ShapeArray instrumentation.

There are two models of cable to connect your ShapeArray to your/the interface unit:

  • Cable18: The standard 15 m length cable shipped with ShapeArray.
  • Cable14: Optional heavy duty cable suitable for longer runs of cable. Excellent for environments where more jacket durability is required. Includes a 550 kgf (1200 lbs) tensile strength Kevlar braid for use in tidal marine applications or unstable soils.

ShapeArray cable is designed and manufactured specifically for ShapeArray instrumentation. Measurand uses high-quality materials to preserve ShapeArray’s digital signal integrity while providing optimum power. The thick urethane jacket is cut-resistant and low fire, smoke, and toxicity.

Standard cable length is 15 m, however, longer custom cable lengths can be ordered if required. Measurand recommends cable lengths greater than 15 m be ordered separately and spliced in the field using a Surge Protection Device (SAASPD). The SAASPD acts as a “splice kit” that protects the ShapeArray from power surges and lightning strikes. Extra cable can be ordered in bulk up to 500 m. Conduits can be used to protect SAA Cable to increase the serviceability and protection from external hazards such as rodent damage or construction activity.

See cable length charts for maximum cable lengths for a particular ShapeArray lengths.
